It's pretty hard to summise a game when you haven't been, it's fair to say, though some will always have an opinion simply based on a scoreline. I was only going on irregular updates from the man at the ground so I've mostly been trying to work out whether yesterday's 2-2 draw was a good point, or a bad one.

On the one hand, it constitutes some form of progress. An away draw is something we've not even managed until now. It may have been against struggling opposition but at least it's a sign that maybe we could be turning a corner away from home. We even went ahead in the game, the first time we've done it away and only the second time this season.

On the other hand we've let a two goal lead slip in the last 20 minutes, and on another day with the updates I was getting, could easily have lost it. They hit the bar and had one cleared off the line as we threatened to throw away an afternoon's hard work, conceding goals at will in short periods, just like last week against Rotherham. Not forgetting of course that this lot are struggling this year and settling into their new home has been a similar hardship, drawing four out of four in the league.

It may sound somewhat rich coming from someone who wasn't there but I'm gonna have my say regardless. I've got to take the positives out of this one. No point being down in the dumps and a point away from home is a step forward from where we were, it doesn't matter how we got it. A lead squandered yes but I won't be focussing on that, I'll leave that to the management to sort out and work on before a tough trip to Wycombe, but I certainly feel a lot more positive about the impending trip, having shown that we are capable of something on our travels. I am going to this one, by the way.

Plus it's a point that's lifted off the unwanted bottom spot. Yes albeit we are still 23rd and hanging on would have catapulted us to the heady heights of 20th, but there is something horrendous about seeing your team rock bottom, especially as it's something your work colleagues will be itching to pick up on first thing Monday morning. Oh we've all been there, the attention turning to little old Barnet as they discuss what they say on Match Of The Day. I am also aware of the irony of this comment, having just watched the goals on The Football League Show but you get my drift.

Back to the next game then, and Wycombe are having an indifferent start on their return to the basement. They have the same home record to us having pinched a 2-2 draw with Shrewsbury late on yesterday and have drawn all four of their away games. That's a 1-6-1 record fact fans. Every league has its draw specialists and all that. It has never been a happy hunting ground for us however, just a couple of draws to speak of since 2005. However we did beat them there in front of the live cameras back in 1991 when we were promoted for the first time.

Onwards and upwards then, I'll be there Tuesday, hopefully not getting stuck in the almighty one access road to certain death that plagues the Adams Park ground. I will not be wasting my time sitting amongst that absurd arrangement.

And now to sign off with something that could become quite regular. It could be worse, we could be Grimsby.
