More On Stockport County

Once again I must begin by apologising about the lack of updates but hope that you understand where it's come from. For a start we've not had a game for a couple of weeks. I don't know about you, but that spells a little bit of bliss to me right now. I've been able to do much more enjoyable things like watch the cricket, clean the house and spend my Saturday afternoons not being bored to near death by Barnet FC. The staleness of this site mirrors the staleness of the club right now, and I'm finding it hard to think of anything to write about.

The last year or so's articles have been tinged with more than just a hint of disillusionment, boredom and almost bitterness that this club has been completely unable to perform on the pitch and provide us supporters with entertainment. I've even gone past that now. I sat yesterday during yet another dreadful defeat wondering what on earth was happening. It's hard to describe the feeling of complete and utter apathy I feel towards something that has been so significant in my life for nearly a decade. It was a strange feeling that's for sure. But even though this season we have been plunging unknown depths, it has still been possible to fall even further into a seemingly unending abyss.

I don't think any game this season, certainly at home as all will to attend away games is sadly lost, has been so poor. I mean POOR. No, not even that word describes it. A brief five minute opening spell was the best we could muster and the two teams decided that for the next 40 minutes they would try to be as shit as eachother. Oh it was terrible. Stockport were horrendous. Yet another terrible team to play in League Two this year. Alarm bells must be ringing when another one of these sides beats us. They couldn't shoot, they couldn't pass, every effort we allowed them to have rolled lamely wide into the vast piles of snow that had been cleared from the pitch this week.

That we still have people willing to put hours of their time in to help clear a pitch is a surprise. The effort and time they put in is commendable, not something I would be found doing in a million years, but fair play. I bet those volunteers can't help thinking that they've had a nice kick in the teeth here. It's bad enough taking a Saturday from your life to travel away, often spending a generous amount of cash to watch Barnet lose, but when you've given up several days to go and help out your club and the playing staff repay you with that crock of shite. Although they did get some free hospitality, which I'm sure was also well worth it.

Once they broke away and managed to score the faith was once again evaporated. It was just so inevitable what was going to happen. And even though a roar was heard just as I reentered the bar, I had no regrets about leaving. Fickle yes, but come on, it was cold. I left Soccer Saturday to do its worse and spell it out in black and white. Barnet are hopeless.

I'm fed up of calling for Stimson's head now. It's getting beyond a joke. Everyone can see it except the board, it would seem, which may suggest that there's something stopping us getting rid. A sizeable payoff by our standards, perhaps? I'm just thinking out loud here. However this team is going nowhere but the Conference with him in charge. We're leaving it too close to chance now, a new man is being given less and less of an opportunity to turn it round with every defeat that follows the last.

I mean, we've only played nine away games, compared to twelve at home. And this man cannot win away games. In a dreadful league, there are not two teams worse than us. No more excuses. Do not risk losing everything we've built up. Because every game Stimson stays in charge, that's exactly what we're doing.

More big games to come, Aldershot could do with being beaten on New Years' Day and then it's The Chavs away. I'm struggling to get myself excited, even for that, because I know what's coming. I know that at this rate they're going to teach us an embarrassing lesson once again and I hate the fact that I'm going to be there to see it. Still, at least we'll make a day of it and the away support should resemble a decent number. I wouldn't blame you for not going in the current climate, but come along. It'll be fun...won't it?!
