More On Macclesfield Town

"So the next game/booze cruise is Macclesfield. It's yet another trip that provides great day out potential, and indeed the potential for a good result going by what we've seen so far. It'll be a sixth win in a row in all competitions if we score more goals than they do, I struggle to remember such a run. Probably 2004/2005 but y'know.

And why shouldn't we be confident? We've demonstrated plenty of our different qualities in these five games, though they have all been based on a solid, watertight backline that has not suffered with a number of personnel changes. They have held strong to a lot of pressure in particular from Millwall and Torquay, while the attack has continued to look very dangerous. Just look at how we picked Northampton to pieces in the second half last week. It could have been more than the three we notched.

With Macclesfield's start to the season being somewhat unimpressive, like it always seems to be, we've got an opportunity. The pessimist inside me is questioning this however. Maybe I've been so used to disappointment in our current Football League spell that the reflex is now to expect that at some point, it's all gonna come crumbling down. However, it is all different now under Ian Hendon, and I'm expecting this to go right and for us to walk out of Moss Rose with three more points, even though our record there suggests otherwise.

The news came out today that Barnet fans can either stand or sit. Great. The article does state however that these areas are on opposite flanks of the ground. Well that'll be odd. But I'm sure that most Bees fans will opt to stand and we can have a little sing song on the little open terrace. Why not? And I hope it'll be a half decent turnout as well by our standards. 200? Gowon.

I don't see why not, there's a feel good factor around the place right now. And even after our top of the league spot was taken barely a day after we'd got there, it didn't have any effect on that fantastic experience. Even if we lose on Saturday, the local public will still see that Barnet are doing well, combined with good press and PR from such a run, and could well turn out in force next week at home to Bradford. 3,000 with a good Bradford turnout? Fans of bigger clubs may scoff, but that's good for us, considering we've done our best to stifle attendances with four seasons of not-much-to-celebrate-about-ness.

As for the day out in Macc, it should be the same routine as last season. That was one good day. But let's hope that Sunday morning doesn't end in the same way. Ugh. That wasn't so good. But never mind, all in the name of fun. And we're having a lot of fun right now."
